The 2nd major facelift was done to this site.  The last one was done back in August 1996.  We ripped off code from Jeff's site (just like we did in 1996), to give the site a new look.  The stories from The NSX-Files are now organized in Chapters.  Who knows, maybe I will get a book deal out it.   I have a shipment of Pulp Racing T-Shirts coming in on November 12th, and a shipment of Pulp Racing mugs on November 19th.  Order yours now for Xmas presents!!

Throughout January
Over the past couple of weeks, I added stuff to "Pulp", under the "How to make Money in the Stock Market".  Fixed a couple of broken links regarding Brainerd and Pulp Racing. (not sure why they broke....)

January 10th:
Added four new pictures.  Two from Photography by Aaron 602-430-7576 from the Phoenix event, picture 1 and picture 2,  and two from Dale, who took pictures of the female hottie reporter from the LA Street Race interviewing me, picture 1 and picture 2. Aaron Wright sent the proofs of pictures(18 or so) he took at Phoenix, and they are some awesome pics.

Night of January 8th:
I experienced Frontpage crashing and deleting my data.  Don't do the following:  Point Frontpage to your website, open up a file from the Frontpage editor.  Then, open Excel, create Excel file, then export that file to HTML from Excel to the same drive were Frontpage is point.  Presto!  All the files in that directory were gone.  So I guess just make sure if you are using Excel to create an HTML table, don't have your PC pointed to the Frontpage share.  Some combo here screws up.  Yes, I replicated it.  So I lost my updates between January 5th and 8th.  Damn, I fixed a lot of grammar and spelling errors in that time frame.  Anyways, I put up The NSX-Files Racing Schedule, along with updates to DOJ and Stock pages under Pulp section.  I have distributed about 25 copies of Volume III already.  Send your checks in!!

New Stuff posted November 11th:
I decided to throw up some non-NSX related articles on my site, especially after reading what other people are saying in the press and in other public bulletin boards.   Check it out at "PULP - Commentary about Stuff".

Correction posted November 5th:
I incorrectly posted on the LA Street Race page that Frank Carlone broke a Comptech single disk clutch.  That was wrong, it was a dual disk clutch.    My apologies for being a bonehead reporter and not getting the story correct the first time.   Also, Comptech feels pretty good about their new single disk clutch, it has a 7 lb. flywheel, and they feel it will work good with the supercharger.

New Stuff posted October 4th, 1998.  Yeah, I know the pictures are big, and if you have a 28.8 modem, you probably think my page sucks because it takes too long to download the pictures.  Well, I would suggest to you that it is ALMOST 1999, and if you ain't got ISDN, ADSL, Cable Modem, or Direct PC, why don't you get off your ass and figure out how to get some bandwidth to your house.  Or at least figure out how to do dual bonding with two 56k modems and two phone lines(if you got NTW or Windows 98/95).  Otherwise, if you are stumbling along at 28.8 speeds, you probably shouldn't be allowed to read pages about fast cars, cause you wouldn't know what to do behind the wheel of a fast car.....maybe you should be browsing www.discovery.com and checking out stories about turtles/snails/molasses, etc.

Examples - downloading entire page of the LA Street Race story, complete with pictures, testing on October 9th, 5:00 p.m.

  1. Using 28.8 Modem connecting into MSN - 332 seconds(5.5 minutes) to download entire story + images
  2. Using 128k ISDN connection into MSN - 110 seconds (1.9 minutes) to download entire story + images
  3. Using Comcast Cable Modem - 23 seconds to download entire story + images.  23 SECONDS. That is about 24 times faster than a 28.8k modem, and four times faster than a 128k ISDN connection.

Now you see why Bill Gates, Paul Allen, etc, invested heavily into cable companies.....because 28.8 modems suck.  ISDN ain't bad, but my bill is usually around $100 a month.  I am not sure how much my cable modem is, but I think it is about $40 month or so, and you can have it connected all the time.  Anyways, bitch and moan to your cable company to hurry up and get their cable modems installed in your city....tell them you need bandwith to read the NSX-Files!

New Stuff Posted Week of August 13th, 1996

  1. The look and feel of this site has been completely changed. To celebrate the midnight, August 13th launching of Internet Explorer 3.0, we decided to get serious and put the web site into Microsoft FrontPage, added frames and other cool stuff. (Well, I should admit that 95% of the design was created by my wife asI have no artistic talent whatsoever.) If you are running Windows 95 or Windows NT and are not running Internet Explorer 3.0 download it now by clicking here on the icon. Animated internet explorer. The first 10,000 people who download Internet Explorer 3.0 and register their copy will get an exclusive commemorative Midnight Madness glow-in-the-dark T-Shirt and be entered into a drawing for a laptop computer.

Internet Explorer 3.0 will allow you to view sites that are using frames, ActiveX, Java Apps, Java Script, VB Script, and view documents on web sites in Explorer view. If you load IE 3.0, you can checkout "acitivated" sites like http://jurassic.unicity.com(going live at midnight on August 13th) and http://www.virginusa.com. If you use IE 3.0, you can get a free trial subscription to the Wall Street Journal Interactive.

Internet Explorer 3.0 support for Windows 3.x,(IE 3.0 a few months away, 2.0 available now) the Macintosh(IE 3.0 a few months away, and 2.0 available now) and UNIX(later this year/early next year) is coming.

My wife fired up Microsoft FrontPage, and in the course of 6 or 7 hours totally revamped this site.. For those of you running Windows 95 or Windows NT, there are a bunch of cool stuff to download from www.microsoft.com to help you easily build sites such as this. If you are coding in pure HTML, you are wasting valuable time that you could be out doing some enthusiastic driving or deploying more websites faster and easier.

Attention WebMasters!! Get free trial copies of Internet tools to build cool sites such as FrontPage by signing up(for free) for the Microsoft Sitebuilder at http://www.microsoft.com/sitebuilder.

  2. The Virginia City Hill Climb Decal Story was added to this site. Learn how the wacky flames got on my NSX.
  3. Bigger picture of the car with flames added. Click here to see it. (33k)
  4. 53 copies of the NSX-Files video tape have been distributed! I have six left, and will probably be doing a second printing, due to unforseen high demand. If you want to make sure you have a copy of the first printing, send a check ASAP! If anyone from Blockbuster Video is reading this page, shoot me some email and we can workout exclusive rental, world-wide distribution rights.
  5. Link to David Hwang's NSX Web site. David had one of the first NSX pages up on the web, and he also maintains the NSX List Server, the NSX List Server Digest Edition, and info about some of the members. If it wasn't for David, a lot of us would be floundering for information about buying, selling, owning, maintaining, modifying, and driving the NSX. Thanks David!!!
  6. Link to Jeff Littrell's revamped One Lap of America site, with lots of pictures and a good story about he teamed up with a guy he met on the RX-7 Mailing list to compete with The Big Dogs in an entertaining story with lots of pictures called "500 Horsepower, No Pistons, Two Guys, and the One Lap of America."

  3. Added Class N time trial event times by request of Doug Ota. (who won the class with his BMW M3)

  5. Three people have sent me checks for the video tape. Be the first on your block to get one! I going into the studio on May 18th with a video editor and will start duping tapes.
  6. Fixed the counter. Everybody who hit the page last time came in as either 4th person or the 41st to visit the page. These two numbers were hardcoded. After 2 hours, we finally figured out that we needed to get the MIPS version of counter.exe, since we are running Windows NT Server with IIS on a MIPS Dual Processor machine, and follow the instructions for the counter.exe correctly.

This page first went up on May 6th, 1996. I am trying to do minor modifications every week.  (uuh..make that every year..)

More sound will be on this site soon. I am having problems recording the appropriate sounds.

AVI files will be put on this site soon. I am having problems obtaining a PCMCIA Video Capture Card. Toshiba is supposed to be sending me one. I have some pretty humbling videotape shot from the camcorder mounted in my car. Image spinning out at 90+ mph, and how ugly that can be.

This site was originally created using Microsoft Word and the Word Internet Assistant, along with Microsoft Excel and the Excel Internet Assistant.   Now I use Microsoft FrontPage
